MORGAN HILL, Calif. -

An identification is still pending for the body found burning near Morgan Hill Thursday morning, the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office said.

Drivers reported seeing a body on fire near Oak Glen Avenue during the morning commute. The fire was extinguished when deputies arrived. Deputies remained on scene collecting evidence until about 9 p.m. Thursday.

An autopsy was scheduled for Friday morning.

Investigators have not said whether the victim was male or female. It's being treated as a homicide.

The Sheriff's Office said it doesn't expect to release any further details on the case until after the Labor Day holiday weekend.
