SALINAS, Calif. -

Accused child killers Tami Huntsman and Gonzalo Curiel were in court Wednesday morning in Salinas.

Huntsman and Curiel are accused of abusing and killing Delylah Tara, 3, and her brother Shaun Tara, 6, and then dumping their bodies in a plastic bin in a Redding storage facility last year. They face two counts of murder, felony child abuse and three counts of torture.

During Wednesday's case status hearing, the Monterey County District Attorney's Office made an amendment to the wording of one count, accusing the couple of conspiring with each other to torture Delylah at a home in Salinas. Both pleaded not guilty to the amended charge.

Huntsman is facing the death penalty when her murder case goes to trial.

Both defendants will be back in court Sept. 23 at 8:30 AM for another hearing.
