GILROY, Calif. -

Crews were able to fully contain an 80-acre grass fire on Highway 152 by about 2:30 p.m. Friday, and all lanes of the roadway have been reopened.

Both lanes of the highway were closed Thursday afternoon near Casa De Fruta after a car accident sparked a vegetation fire that quickly spread, officials said.

No injuries were reported from the one-car crash, which first sparked a 30 acre fire on the north side of the highway, which jumped the highway to the south, causing a 50 acre fire.

NewsChannel 5 reporter Baha Eldin visited the scene Friday to get a first-hand look at the cleanup efforts.
