Greenfield, Calif- The Greenfield Police Department is one of several police agencies that are now expanding their use of technology.
Over the past few years camera phones have become more prevalent, allowing for more on scene instant coverage of incidents involving the police. One of the most recent cases being a shooting death of a bay area man by an officer at an Oakland Transit station. The growing instant coverage has left law enforcement officials struggling to keep up with the evolving technology.
Greenfield Police Cheif Joe Grebmeier says it is for this reason they are expanding from dashboard cameras "to the use of helmet and taser cameras and clip on cameras that will be worn as a part of police uniforms."
The police department is now in the early stages of evaluating the effectiveness and durability of the clip on cameras, and may start using them station wide within the next year.
