SALINAS, Calif - Monterey County Animal Services is holding an Actual Cost Rabies Vaccination and Microchip Clinic on Friday, Dec. 4th from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at its facility, 160 Hitchcock Road in Salinas.
Rabies vaccinations will be only $6.00 each and microchips will be $26.00 each. Dog licenses will also be available for those residents living in unincorporated Monterey County areas. All dogs must be on leashes and cats must be in carriers.
All dogs and cats over the age of four months are required by law to be currently vaccinated against the rabies virus. Dogs are required to be licensed within the County or City in which they reside.
Microchips have become very important in reuniting lost pets with their owners. Unlike collars, which can fall off, microchips are inserted under the skin and remain active for the life of the pet. All local animal shelters and most veterinarians can scan stray animals for microchips.
