Now in the name of progress, fans will have to pull over to find their produce elsewhere. "They are going to pull over and realize that we are gone that's going to be really hard," said Sherri Lazerrini the owner of Dominic's produce store in Moss Landing.
Sherri had mixed emotions today when she helped her customers pick out fresh fruits for the last time. "I am going to miss the people that I see everyday. They have become part of my life," said Lazerrini.
The store that means so much for many locals is closing because Caltrans needs the land. A frontage road will be constructed from Jansen Road, where the store is located, to Salinas Road. In addition there's going to be an overpass on Salinas Road. "I went through all the emotions anger to bitter," said Lazerrini.
Today friends and workers gathered to reflect on all the good times they have had in the store." In the album there are pictures as little kid at pumpkin patch, memories from childhood. It's to bad this is happening", said Gualberto Ponce, a former employee.
The store is now closed, but Sherri is leaving with great friends and memories that she will keep close to her heart.
