Ricardo Navarro has been at KION since July 2012 and says that California now has his heart.
"I moved from Florida where I grew up. I was raised in Tampa and went to school at the University of Florida (Go Gators!). While at UF, I was able to really dive into the world of journalism and fell in love with telling stories. I was honored to win first place for best Hard News Feature at the Associated Press Broadcaster awards in 2012. It was for a piece about a community trying to save a historical spring in Suwannee County. Being new to California, I love to explore every part of it, and love taking my 5-year-old Lab mix to the beach and lounging. If you ever run into something interesting on the Central Coast and feel it could make a great story, please feel free to drop me a line."
