SALINAS, Calif.- Less than an hour drive, the kids at Rancho Cielo and the students that perform at the Carmel Bach Festival, are worlds away in their musical taste.
"I listen to a lot of rap, under ground rap...I don't really know about Bach or Mozart," said Jiovany Ramirez of Salinas.
When they were told about performing at Rancho Cielo, some of the kids with the youth choir said, "Where's that? Somewhere in Salinas maybe? Off Hwy 1? I really didn't know," said Gabe LaCoss.
But a few songs in, some started to re-think their first impressions, "I'm not going to lie, I thought it was going to be lame, just because of how borring the music is," said Arturo Castillo, "But it's intersting, and they put a lot of work into it."
After the performances, Rancho Cielo kids assignment was to interview and interact with their peers and then have a BBQ.
The Carmel Bach Youth Choir has invited Rancho Cielo students to their final rehearsal with all the musicians who are a part of the Bach Festival at the Sunset Center in Carmel, Friday morning.
