Q: Where Are The Seasonal Flu Shots?

Posted: Updated:

A: The Monterey County Health Department said there's not much of the seasonal flu vaccine left.

The vaccinations were given out early this year as health care officials wanted to get the shot out of the way to make room for the H1N1 vaccines. Health officials said you need to check with your local health care professional to see if they have any seasonal flu shots left. At this time, there is no scheduled walk-in clinics for the seasonal flu.

Health officials said there might be another round of vaccines released from manufactures in January, but there's no telling how many of these vaccines will make it to Monterey or Santa Cruz County. The Monterey County Health Department said they were giving out seasonal flu vaccines up until a few weeks ago, hitting up 11 different schools and holding several walk-in clinics on Alisal in Salinas and in Seaside.

The Clinica De Salud said they still have some seasonal flu shots left, but they are only giving them out to their established patients.

Three free H1N1 public clinics are coming up for high risk groups only. One will be held in Salinas on Central Ave., Saturday, Dec. 5, at 10 a.m. There will also be one in King City on Broadway, Saturday, Dec. 5, at 3 p.m. Then another clinic will be held in Monterey at the Del Monte Center Saturday, Dec. 12, at 10 a.m.
