SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - Cleaning crews worked Monday to return U.C. Santa Cruz's Kerr Hall to normal, following a four-day student occupation of the building that left damaged property and an overall mess.
UCSC Associate Vice Chancellor Barry Shiller led television crews Monday on tours of clean-up process; Shiller says four truckloads of trash had already been cleared since the student occupation ended Sunday morning.
Dozens of demonstrators occupied the building for four days to protest an increase in UC fees by 32 percent; the increase was approved to help the state's higher education system handle losses from last year's budget crisis.
Shiller said it is still unknown how many students were involved in the protest; campus police is reviewing security video to identify any who were involved. Shiller adds it's unclear if any charges will be levelled against anyone identified.
The cost of the damage is yet to be determined. Crews expected to finish work by the end of the day.
