SANTA CRUZ, Calif - Homes on 25th Avenue in Santa Cruz were asked to evacuate for a second time on Wednesday night after police found more hazardous materials in a nearby home that made them nervous. Homes within a 300 diameter of 215 25th Avenue had to evacuate, however it was not mandatory.
All residents were able to return to their homes by 8 p.m. on Wednesday night.
The materials when combined could be used to manufacture illegal aerial fireworks. Santa Cruz Country requires a permit for storage of these items, one had not been obtained.
This all started on Tuesday when the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office received a call from the County Environmental Health Agency. They received a tip from a local freight agency that was scheduled to deliver 350 pounds of dangerous substances to 215 25th Ave.
The man living in the home, Stanley Vallelunga, 35, was arrested Tuesday night for being under the influence of a controlled substance.
Stanley Vallenlunga has been released on bond. He has not yet been charged with a crime related to the explosive materials.
Vallelunga had been previously arrested after a domestic violence standoff back in 2006. He lives at this house with his uncle and wife.
